Adventures "Fit for a King"

We have long had the dream of being able to travel and see the country while visiting family, fishing, bowhunting or just exploring the USA. In July of 2009 we both retired and hit the road for 5 weeks, our first long vacation together. In the following 6 months we spent over 3 1/2 months in our 5th wheel and discovered that we could adapt to that "life style" quite easily. We hope to be gone even more and hope to use our blog to let our friends and family share our adventures!

Heading to Northern Oregon and the Colombia River

We set up camp at Memaloose State Park just east of The Dalles, Oregon on the Colombia River

We left Phoenix,AZ to escape some heat and wouldn't you know it, a heat wave was hanging over the NW and it was 108 degrees and no wind. This part of the Colombia River is known for its' wind and waves that the windsurfers love, not the case for at least a few of the days we were there. But we were not there to windsurf, we have a daughter there Tara, her husband Joe who are involved in a Christian ministry there called ACTS. Their devotion to this cause has had a tremendous impact on many youths in The Dalles area and we are so very proud of them!
